What if I told you hamburgers don’t have to be fatty, if you use good quality beef that’s less than 15% fat you don’t have to sacrifice any succulence! Add wholemeal buns and enjoy the benefits of high fiber, lowered cholesterol, feeling fuller for longer and let’s not forget – better fat distribution!
Heat the olive oil in a pan, chop and add the onion for approximately 3 minutes, until softened but not golden brown. Add to a bowl and set aside for the moment.
Add the burgers to the frying pan and cook on a medium heat turning every minute or so, after a few minutes lower the heat and continue to cook for another few minutes.
While the burgers continue to cook chop a pickle into small pieces and add it to the onion bowl, do the same with the tomato and add leaves of lettuce as well.
For the sauce - Peel and press the apple, pepper and avocado into a semi-liquid using a mortar, finely chop the chilli and add a pinch of salt, mix well, add a little lemon juice.
Once the burgers are nearly fully cooked prepare the wholemeal bread buns and lay a fine slice of mozzerella on top of each one, add the pickle, onions, lettuce and tomato as well. Use the bottom bun to spread the sauce.
Add the burger and assemble. Repeat for the rest of the burgers, then garnish appropriately, last of all, enjoy! These burgers are an awesome meal and are really healthy!
