KitchenAid KMT423CU 4-Slice Toaster Review Posted in: Reviews, Toasters

If you’re a morning person then what better way to start it than with a side of toast and refreshing drink, although the KitchenAid KMT423CU is not capable of making drinks, today we review its toasting ability!

Features and Specifications

Extra-wide 1 1/2-inch slots
LCD display with digital progress bar
Bagel, Defrost, and Reheat buttons
One Touch Control – Raises and lowers bread on demand even in the middle of cycle
All-metal construction

After receiving the KitchenAid KMT423CU I immediately noticed it looks a lot sharper in the flesh as opposed to the pictures I saw online, it has more of a glossy finish and looks less brushed. With an all metal finish and a plethora of buttons it manages to look pretty space age even in this gadget filled kitchen! Featuring defrost and reheat buttons if you have to tend to something while your toast gets cold you can just put it back in for a minute and it will reheat without browning the toast or bagel any further. Defrost works very well too if you forgot to take the new bread loaf out of the freezer!

I have used the same toaster for many years, despite the fact that it works as expected if I’m having a bad day the toast burns on the bottom side, I finally decided to upgrade. The KMT423CU was my choice after using it at a friends, I saw the way my friend lowered a bagel into the toaster and we got chatting about it. One feature of the KitchenAid KMT423CU is its ability to centre food so heat is distributed evenly throughout, which ensures that bread and bagels are toasted evenly.

Toasting is very fast taking less than a couple of minutes which is great because if it just ‘flashed’ the bread then the way I like to butter my toast wouldn’t work as well, the bread or bagel simply wouldn’t be hot enough and I would be left with butter that doesn’t melt, yuck! The opposite side of this coin is that if the toaster is on for more than a few minutes the bread will dry out, become crisp and for me, be like eating shrapnel! Maybe I’m different, opinion is subjective however I like a golden brown colour with external crunch and an internal softness. This is the type of toast I get with the KitchenAid KMT423CU 4-Slice Toaster.

When toasting is finished a loud beep can be heard, if I’ve gone back into the bedroom I can easily hear it, because it only beeps once it’s okay but I always think this toaster would be brilliant for the hard of hearing! I have many other kitchen appliances that make more insistent noises and don’t stop making them until they are tended to!

If I put the toasting setting on four and start boiling eggs right after then I can have both foods ready at the same time, I enjoy whole grain bread which may need a slightly higher setting than white. If you want to toast bagels or muffins that is not a problem either, just put the heat setting on higher and the four extra wide one and a half-inch slots can easily accommodate them.

With over 320 reviews it is one of KitchenAid’s more popular products, it has a score of 4.3 out of 5.0 stars making it very impressively scored especially considering the amount of competitors it has, users compliment how modern it looks while being durable and producing great toast and bagels throughout the day! Definitely recommended, if you need to get your day off to a good start then the KitchenAid KMT423CU is sure to help you out!
