Just because Summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy cold drinks, unfortunately though they’re not cheap from coffee shops. Worry not though, here’s freyaskitchen.com’s answer to iced coffee with a sweet shot to really bring out the flavor. What’s awesome is you can add caramel, toffee, even mint to enjoy a great iced coffee at home or on the go.

So lets get right into the recipes!

Method 1 – Blender

Flavored Iced Latte

Ingredients:

3 fluid ounces – 80 Ml brewed espresso
1-2 tablespoons of caramel/toffee/mint/strawberry sauce or syrup, this can really be any sauce, I personally use a tablespoon of ice cream sauces, a strong flavour is recommended.
1-2 tablespoons white sugar (I use two to balance any bitterness and I like it sweet)
3/4 – 200 Ml cup milk
1 1/2 cups ice cubes
2 tablespoons whipped cream, the recipe works without it but it’s a great addition.

Directions:

Add the brewed espresso, sauce or syrup, and sugar into a blender. Blend on high until the caramel and sugar dissolve into the espresso. Pour in milk and ice; continue blending until smooth and frothy. Top with whipped cream to serve. Easy peasy and super refreshing!

Method 2 – Syrup only – Approximately 8 Servings

Ingredients:

1 cup – 225 grams of sugar
3/4 cup – 230 Ml water
1 tablespoon sauce/syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

In a small pan, combine the sugar, about a third of the water and the sauce or syrup. Stir on the lowest heat until fully dissolved. When the sugar has dissolved, turn the heat up to medium, cover, let it boil for 3 minutes. Remove the cover and stir well while it continues to cook, remove from heat. Pour the other half cup of water and stir in the vanilla extract.

Cool it in the fridge completely before use. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of syrup to each cup of coffee. The syrup will keep beautifully in the fridge for a few months.

A couple of tips

While the coffee stays hot the caffeine level will decrease, this means if you enjoy the caffeine buzz then it’s best to make your coffee and syrup separately.

These are the ratios that I use but feel free to tweak to your taste

Take your coffee on the go and don’t pay coffee shop prices!

Absolutely any flavored syrup or sauce can be used, from cinnamon to even a little whiskey, but make sure to not go overboard!
