Best Bread Maker | Bread maker reviews

Who doesn’t want fresh bread? We review the best bread maker; or breadmaker. We’re still not sure which one it is.

Zojirushi BB-HAC10 Breadmaker

With a compact and slim design the Zojirushi BB-HAC10 is ideal for kitchens short on space, with dimensions of 12″ x 11″ x 8″ it is one of the smallest breadmakers available but it can still make 1 pound bread loaves, ideal for a small family or single.

Available in white with a plastic surrounding it is basic aesthetically, but if you didn’t want to have it on show it fits in a cupboard! The buttons on the front allow for choosing basic, regular, or firm and soft bread while the crust darkness can also be changed using the simple interface. There are also three buttons for making cookie/pasta dough, cake and jam. Both an up and down button for setting the timer.

13 hour delay timer

For many breadmaking aficionados it is important to be able to make bread for certain times of the day, fortunately this is not a worry for the BB-HAC10. It has a 13 hour delay timer which you can set to make bread for the morning before you’ve gone to bed!

The Zojirushi BB-HAC10 may look a little simple, but it’s actually carrying a lot of features considering its compact siize, first it is very portable with a large handle on the side that can be carried in one hand. Second, with a quick baking cycle bread can be cooked within two hours (quicker than some of the larger breadmakers). It also includes a viewing window for that extra control while baking, and crust control for the bread perfectionist and a recipe book/instruction manual.

The BB-HAC10 breadmaker bakes bread evenly throughout, while making a genuine distinction depending on the crust control selected. Bread is soft and the texture is something you can only achieve with home baking, gluten-free bread is lovely using the BB-HAC10 too. It makes a beeping sound when mixing has finished and it’s time to add in raisins or other ingredients to creatively enhance your bread. Obviously if you would like to make a larger loaf of bread, consider getting a larger bread maker, as the most the BB-HAC10 will manage is a 1 pound loaf, perfect for homes with one or two.

With a nonstick baking pan it is very simple to clean, just scrape all the dough and bread out of the paddle, wipe it clean and dry everything, ready for the next loaf.

Conair Cuisinart CBK-100 Bread Maker

With a stainless steel exterior and modern sleek design the Cuisinart CBK is one of the best looking bread makers around. The buttons feel responsive with an easy to understand display

Just like its compatriot the Zojirushi BB-PAC20 the CBK also has a 13 hour delay timer, this means you can wake up too freshly made bread in the morning. Just prepare, set the timer and enjoy the freshest toast possible.
It’s removable lid has a viewing window so checking on bread as it bakes is possible, the bread pan is removable also. Stay cool handles allow for easy removal right after the process finishes. Lastly, the dimensions are 18″ x 12.5″ x 15″ so it is roughly big enough for a 2 pound loaf of bread.

Baking with the Cuisinart CBK is simple to do, all that’s required is adding ingredients, selecting the loaf size and crust colour (medium, light or dark crust), then the breadmaker will start mixing and kneading the dough. Once completed there will be an audible signal where you can remove the kneading paddle, to avoid the small hole in the bottom of the loaf, however this is optional and not necessary whatsoever.

Once the bread is baked there’s another audible alert to signal the process ending, the bread is then kept warm for 60 minutes to prevent it getting soggy, a nice feature.

The results cooking with the Cuisinart CBK are very impressive, on the dark crust setting the bread was crunchy on the outside but soft and warm on the inside, adding a few raisins brings a fruity twist but makes toast in the morning that bit more creative.

Gluten-free bread passed with flying colors also, adding very thin chunks of apple and a little cinnamon seasoning with gluten-free flour, soy milk and bakers yeast is recommended based on my results using the Cuisinart CBK.

The Cuisinart CBK Bread Maker is versatile with an ability to also make Pasta dough, jams and sauces. With preset functions it also takes any guesswork out of trying to use the bread maker for other aspects.

Zojirushi BB-PAC20 Home Bakery Virtuoso Breadmaker

Capable of making 2 pound bread loaves the BB-PAC20 will not shy away from making good-sized bread, its dimensions are 13″ x 18″ x 10.5″ meaning it can create traditional large style loaves. With 700 W of power it is efficient in the time it takes while producing one loaf of bread in about two hours. It’s capable baking whole wheat bread as well as gluten free!

One feature of the BB-PAC20 is the dual kneading blades, the benefit of having two blades is kneading dough is fast and thorough. If you are making gluten-free bread or even whole grain, this helps with the consistency and texture while allowing for the loaf to be easily detached from the bread pan, without the blades being stuck within the loaf.

The LCD control panel can set three crust shades, 10 preprogrammed settings and set the time. It’s been cleverly designed that the user can keep a close eye on things. With a close eye in mind you can easily keep track of the baking process by the viewing window into the bread making machine. The BB-PAC20 has handles on the baking pan for easy handling and removal at the end of the process to make sure everything is simple as it could be.

With many new menu settings on the BB-PAC20 it’s actually quite fun to use! The crust options are light medium and dark and there are also presets that include cake, gluten-free bread, sourdough, jam and wheat bread. A clever feature to note about this Zojirushi breadmaker is the ability to program it to remember basic settings for heat and time, this means if you have a secret recipe then you can store it on the BB-PAC20 for later use.

The user-friendly clever design does not stop there however, the time can be set for ingredients to rest to stabilize during the process. This is important if you’re a bread connoisseur because you can control even the most advanced parts of baking while saving time for the next batch! If however you like to knead the dough yourself before baking it the Zojirushi will allow you to take it out and put it in before baking, it may seem obvious however many bread makers once the process starts it is out of your hands.

The BB-PAC20 can be set to delay baking cycle for up to 13 hours, allowing you to set it before you go to bed to start making bread for toast for 8 AM, this is a useful little idea. I love the smell of fresh bread in the morning.
